Download CLANNAD Access 1.0 (zip)
A small zip of about 250 KB. There is nothing to run: you copy three files into the game folder.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11.
- CLANNAD on Steam, with the game's language set to English (the default).
- A screen reader. NVDA is what the mod is built and tested with; JAWS works too, and without a screen reader the mod uses the Windows voice.
What it does
- The story, spoken: narration and dialogue with the speaker's name, including your own name if you change it, and the words the game highlights for the Dangopedia.
- Choices: every option is read out, and you pick one with the arrow keys.
- Every menu by keyboard: the title screen, the system menu, save and load with each slot's chapter and date, and the yes and no questions.
- Configuration: every setting tells you its current state, and the volume, text speed and window colour sliders can be moved by keyboard.
- A text log and voice replay: step back through earlier lines with the bracket keys, and hear a character's voice again with P.
- The Dangopedia and achievements: read every entry you have found, and hear a notice when a new term or achievement is unlocked.
- The story date: announced when a new day starts, and on demand with D.
Installing
- Close CLANNAD if it is running.
- In Steam, open your Library, open the context menu on CLANNAD, choose Manage, then Browse local files. The folder that opens holds SiglusEngine_Steam.exe.
- From the zip, copy version.dll, Tolk.dll and nvdaControllerClient32.dll into that folder, next to SiglusEngine_Steam.exe. The settings file clannad_access.ini is optional.
- Start CLANNAD from Steam. After a few seconds you hear "CLANNAD Access 1.0 loaded".
The README in the zip lists every key, what is not accessible yet, and how to uninstall: delete the same files again.
Languages
The mod works with the English version of CLANNAD. The other language versions on Steam are built on a different game engine, so the mod stays switched off there.
